Frequently Asked Questions about our Mead and Honey!

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Mead

What is Mead?

Mead is the oldest form of alcohol. It is made by fermenting the sugar out of honey, instead of another sugar source like grapes.

Where do we make our meads?

Most of our meads are made at our meadery, 108 Commerce St.

What honey do we use to make our meads?

Our meads (unless specified) are made with our local BZ wildflower honey. We are beekeepers and always use the honey from our own hives!

Is Mead always sweet?

Nope! Mead can be as dry or as sweet as any grape wine. Some of our meads are back sweetened with extra honey, others have all of the honey completely fermented out.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Honey

Where are our hives located?

We have almost 100 hives all around the Tomball, Cypress, and Katy area. Some of our hives are located at the Tomball Community Garden, Main Street, The Arbor Gate, Plants for all Seasons, Cypress Community Garden, Verdant Tree Farm in Katy, and private property in Tomball and Cypress. (Nurseries with our hives do not spray chemicals).

Is BZ Honey Local?

We are local to Tomball, TX, and neighboring towns where we sell.

Is BZ Honey raw and unfiltered?

Yes! Nothing has been added to our honey. It’s natural, from the hive to the bottle. Our local honey has NOT been heated or processed, and is chemical-free.

Is BZ Honey organic?

No, because our bees do not visit only certified organic plants. It is raw, local, wildflower, and chemical-free honey.

Why does BZ Honey vary in color?

We harvest our honey in small batches, so the color of our honey varies slightly throughout the year depending on what plants are in bloom. Light honey is sweeter and dark honey is more earthy.
